You should probably also look at the Program History and Testimonial pages to get started.

The birth year coaches e-mails are available at their respective
Team sites.
They are the ones who pick the teams and schedule the tournaments.

After that, browse the site.  Look at our

Value Since 1999
The Buffalo Prospects Spring Development Program was founded in 1999 by John Hannon, Ph.D.   It was the first
program of its kind.  It is essentially a 3-month, 20-session hockey school designed to teach top-quality skating and
skills development to supplement the winter hockey season.

Since you can never be sure who will rise to the top with good coaching and motivation, we have always instructed
all levels of hockey players: AAA, AA, Select, and House.  Indeed, we have a special place in our hearts for hard
working underdogs!

Our annual registration begins on December 31 (or January 1), at which time we hold an evaluation/skills clinic.
The purpose of the evaluation is to select and post players for our Tournament Teams and our Pure Development
Teams.  A second evaluation is held on President’s Day Holiday in February for most birth years, at which time
registration closes.

Tournament Teams – Coaches from each birth year select and post 23 players (18-20 skaters plus 2-4 goalies)
whom they determine to be the most skilled players to participate on Tournament Teams.  This group of players
goes to 2-3 tournaments in Canada in addition to the 20-session program.  They have a different ice times than the
Pure Development Teams, but have the same program.

Pure Development Teams – Coaches from each birth year select and post the players whom they determine to be
the most suitable players to participate on Pure Development Teams.  This group of players does not go to any
tournaments in addition to the 20-session program.  They have different ice times than the Tournament Teams, but
have the same program.

The 20-session program is divided up into eight (8) team-focused skill development practices, seven (7) fun and
competitive scrimmages, and five (5) special guest instructor skill development sessions.  The practices and
scrimmages are run by the coaches and instructors.  The special guest sessions are run by our guest instructors,
who come from a variety of top programs from the NHL, to college, to junior levels.

The cost of the program is $475 (tournaments run $75-$100 each extra).   Second and multiple children are given a
discount of $50 each off the program fee.

The program runs from the end of March to the end of June.  There are normally two sessions per week (one
weekday evening and one weekend afternoon or evening), excluding most holidays, school breaks, and rink
events.   Consistent days and times are established for all groups beginning in early April after the first 3-4
sessions.  The full season schedule is posted to the website by March 1.

All ice sessions are held at the Northtown Center at Amherst.

We offer year-round skill development clinics by World Hockey Institute, also founded and operated by John Hannon
in 1999.  Clinic information and registration forms are posted regularly to the website www,buffalohockey.org.
