St. Lawrence Coach Bob Pier in for Next Two Clinics
Bob Prier, former St. Lawrence player and current coach, will be in the weekends of May 20-21 and June 3-4 to lead our skills clinics
those weekends. Bob has an outstanding reputation among his peers in the coaching fraternity and is widely viewed as a potential
head coach at the Division 1 level someday. On each of these Sundays we will have another college or Junior A coach running the pad
opposite Bob.

Prospects 2006 Season Kicks Off
After a huge amount of preparation and work, the Prospects 2006 Season kicked off last night and tonight. The jerseys and socks look
great. The names on both jerseys is a new feature this year (which has paid off already - as we were able to more easily than ever
catch (LOL!) and correct kids during the skating and skills drills!).
A huge thank you goes out to Diane, Nick, Regina, Scott, and all of our team managers. It is a delight to see so many people helping
these kids with the many, many off ice details that are necessary to make things run so smoothly. To do this right, it takes an incredible
amount of effort. As for wrinkles, if there are any, we'll iron them out over the next week.
It is also amazing and great to see so many qualified coaches out on the ice instructing. The Prospects program has always been
about sharing information and knowledge. Since 1999 we have raised the bar for skill development in Western New York - and in doing
so have sent many coaches back into their organizations with new and better tools to teach the kids with.
Bob Janosz, a personal friend and friend of the program for over eight years, was out this weekend skilling our goalies. He is a rock
solid guy and a great instructor. Bob's staff of instructors are also big contributors to the Prospects program. We so appreciate the way
they work with the kids.
We also have benefited from innovative coaches & thinkers. Bob, Pat, and the U14 coaches asked how we felt about establishing
benchmark performance levels for their girls at the start and end of the program. We said, give it a try - so they were out there with their
stopwatches and other stuff tonight. Ken Paulin got us started on offering nutrition, sports psychology, and other seminars last year.
And, this year Ken agreed to lead our 92 team on a prestigious European Tour departing next Sunday. We'll keep you posted through
the diary we've asked them to keep.
The innovations keep coming - our first goalie buddy day with Sabres Goalie Coach Jim Corsi is scheduled in a week or so (4/10).
We are always looking for new and better ways to build these young people up and build friendships across the Prospects family. Feel
free to share your ideas.
After weeks of nervousness and anxiety, seeing the kids out on the ice working hard, being focused & disciplined, and learning, is so
rewarding. For the first time in a while, we'll all sleep sound tonight.
