Prospects strongly supporting benefit for Fred Korey

Fred actually coached our son Luke at Wheatfield several years ago.  He has been a dedicated
youth hockey coach for 20+ years and, more recently, the Director of Hasek's Heroes.  He has
given back a lot to the game and the local hockey community.

The Buffalo Prospects will be sponsoring at least one table at the event.  If you are interested in
attending this worthwhile event, please
email and we will get everyone together.

We are attempting to get a batch of tickets for the tribute so that we can efficiently sell them to
various Prospects families.  We would love to fill up 3-4-5 tables to show our support for Fred.

Here are the details for the tribute:

Hasek's Heroes is holding a benefit in honor of it's executive director, Fred Korey (Korhummel). Fred
has been afflicted with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), sometimes called Lou Gehrig's disease, a
rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells (neurons)
responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.

The event will raise funds for Korey and his family to help cover his medical expenses. The event will
include live and silent auctions. Please join us and help show Fred and his family our appreciation for
his many contributions to Hasek's Heroes and youth hockey in Western New York.

The event is open to kids and adults.  We spoke with the organizer Fred Heinle and according to him,
"I would suggest that based on Fred's commitment to youth hockey it is most important to include
friends and supporters of all ages."

Dominik Hasek, who founded Hasek’s Heroes in 2001, is expected to attend the event.

“Fred Korey was the person who nearly single-handedly made Dominik Hasek’s vision a reality,” said
Ted Marks, Hasek Heroes chairman and president of Fowler’s Chocolates. “Dominik wanted a legacy in
Buffalo and he wanted that legacy to be providing hockey opportunities to those who could not typically
have them,” Marks said. “Dominik saw the need and then provided the resources while Fred provided
the hard work and compassion required to make it happen. Fred is one of a kind and the program
thrives because of his efforts.”
